The Medical Heritage Society

Every day, the Wabash Valley is enriched by the dedication and leadership of exceptional physicians. Often times, these individuals go unrecognized for their extraordinary contributions to our community and beyond.

The Wabash Valley Community Foundation is pleased to recognize and honor those physicians who have inspired us all to imagine, create and work towards enhancing the community in which we live. The Medical Heritage Society provides local physicians an opportunity to recognize retired physicians who have made a significant contribution to the practice of medicine and outstanding patient care in the Wabash Valley. The goal of the Medical Heritage Society is to honor these retired physicians, as well as promote and improve the health and quality of life of residents of the Wabash Valley.

Practicing physicians are invited to nominate a deserving retired physician who has made a significant contribution to the practice of medicine and outstanding patient care in the Wabash Valley. Once a physician receives $2,500, or twenty-five votes, contributed in his or her honor, that physician will automatically be named an Aesculapian Scholar.

The intent of the Medical Heritage Society is to honor retired physicians as well as create a $100,000 permanently endowed fund focusing on improving the quality of life of residents of the Wabash Valley.

The Medical Heritage Society Endowment Fund will provide grants each year to worthwhile programs and projects within the county in which the physician practiced. These grants will reflect the dedication of the honored physicians in that they will have a tremendous impact on the quality of life in the Wabash Valley.
