Carl William “Bill” Stallcop

Carl William “Bill” Stallcop was born on January 7, 1938, and spent his 85 years living “the best life”.

Bill was a graduate of Van Buren High School, class of 1956. He was a well-known fixture in downtown Brazil owning and operating Stallcop’s Marathon for 34 years. He retired at the age of 62, and then began driving a school bus for Clay Community. He thoroughly enjoyed his country living often saying he was completely “content”. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and was always active. He loved fishing in Canada, golfing, making maple syrup, and listening to turkeys gobble in the morning sunrise.

Bill also had a passion for flying. He was a private flight instructor at Brazil Municipal Airport for many years and spent countless hours in the sky.

He was a faithful and dedicated Elder at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ. His faith meant everything to him and he was a tremendous example to his family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bill will be remembered as someone not afraid to be himself. He was the real deal, and those who knew him well respected that about him.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bill’s memory at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, 200 South 8th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47807 or by clicking below.
