VFW Post 972 Voice of Democracy Scholars

The National Voice of Democracy Program happens during the fall semester of each school year. This program allows high school students the opportunity to win valuable scholarships and awards while expressing their ideas, thoughts, and opinions.

To apply for the scholarship, a student needs to write and then record a short, three to five minute essay covering the year’s assigned theme. Students who are in 10th, 11th, or 12th grade and are properly enrolled in a public, private, home study or parochial high school in the United States, its territories and possessions, or a dependent of U.S. military or U.S. civilian personnel in overseas schools are eligible to enter.

The program is conducted each fall by local VFW volunteers. VFW Post 972 is the sponsor for Terre Haute, Indiana. The purpose of this fund is to provide a scholarship payable to an institution of higher education which will benefit the winners of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 972 Voice of Democracy Essay Contest.
