Rachel Marie Romas Memorial Scholarship

Rachel Marie Romas was born in Terre Haute, Indiana.  She graduated from Northview High School with the class of 2004 and graduated from Saint Mary of the Woods College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Rachel continued her education at S.M.W.C. and graduated in 2010 with a Master’s degree in Non-profit Leadership Development.

Rachel loved making her community a better place. She volunteered for many organizations including: Relay for Life, Bowl for Kid’s Sake, Big Brother Big Sister, Altrusa, Dancing With The Terre Haute Stars, Board of Directors for the Wabash Valley Community Foundation and the Popcorn Festival Committee. In her free time she enjoyed kayaking, playing board games, reading, spending time with friends and having “themed parties”.

Rachel passed away on February 7, 2017 following a short battle with Acute Lymphoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma.

Eligibility requires that:

  • You are a student, from a county served by the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, who intends to pursue a Bachelor or Master’s degree at St. Mary of the Woods College and whose application demonstrates a record of community engagement or community service.  Preference should be given to those with leadership experience within a community service group.
