John Schoffstall Memorial Scholarship

John Schoffstall was a firefighter with the city of Terre Haute, serving at Station 5C. He was a member of the Local #758, the Pipes and Drums Band with the fire department, the Indiana Association of Firefighters and the New Goshen Volunteer Fire Department.

John also owned and operated The Deer Barn LLC, was an NRA member, an Archery Trade Association member, volunteer coach for West Vigo Youth Football and a volunteer softball coach. But, mostly, John was a dedicated father and husband.

The John Schoffstall Memorial Fund was established at the Wabash Valley Community Foundation in support of a scholarship to benefit a football player at West Vigo High School who has demonstrated academic success and outstanding involvement within his community.

Selection is based upon the following criteria:

  • 5 GPA or higher
  • Member of the West Vigo High School football team for at least 2 years, including his senior year
  • Personal resume defining the student’s “outstanding involvement within his community” as required to qualify for this award
