Charles F. and Nancy A. Bradford Scholarship Fund

Charles F. “Chuck” Bradford was born on May 27, 1933 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was a certified public accountant in Terre Haute for more than 40 years. He retired as president of Sackrider & Company in 1996, and passed away in 2010. Chuck graduated from Wiley High School and Indiana University, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Finance Corp. As a CPA, Chuck held many positions including former treasurer of the Downtown Kiwanis Club for 22 years, and former treasurer of the Vigo County Historical Society for 15 years. He was a recipient of the Vigo County Historical Society Distinguished Service Award. His memberships included Indiana CPA Society, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Rose-Hulman Board of Associates.

Chuck married Nancy Adamson on September 4, 1954 and were married for 56 years.

Nancy, a retired assistant director of the economic development group the Alliance for Growth and Progress, encouraged the promotion of business education. As a non-traditional college student, she finished her degree in Business at Indiana University after being a stay-at-home mom for fifteen years.

Nancy and their four children Jeff, Mark and Susan Bradford, and Elizabeth Bradford Jungers, wanted to honor Chuck’s memory. Since Chuck, Nancy and Susan had been actively involved in the creation, development and support of the Wabash Valley Community Foundation, it was an easy decision on what to do in Chuck’s memory.

With Mark and Susan being CPA’s and graduates of Indiana State University, the family decided to create a scholarship fund in the name of both parents. The Charles F. and Nancy A. Bradford Scholarship Fund provides a fee waiver for tuition and required fees for a senior level student majoring in accounting at the Scott College of Business at Indiana State University. Through this scholarship fund, Chuck and Nancy’s legacy will be carried on for generations.
