Guys Give $7,350 to Back Pack Program!

Here is a recap from last quarterly meeting of 2017:

First, member Jacob Hellmann introduced his guest Jordan Davidson who spoke on behalf of the Wabash Valley Christian Youth Camp. The camp serves approximately 300 campers each year from ages 8 to 18, campers stay overnight and participate in a variety of activities. The camp gives kids around the Wabash Valley the opportunity to come to a safe and healthy environment that they might not have had the opportunity to do so otherwise. This funding would provide the purchase of a new stove as the current stove is about 30 years old.

Second, member Dave Piker introduced his guest Jane Nichole who spoke on behalf of the Vigo County Education Foundation for classroom mini grants. The Foundation is always in need of funding for teacher requested classroom mini grants that allow more learning opportunities for students across all of the Vigo County schools.

Third, member Frank Hill introduced his guest Susan Eisman who spoke on behalf of the Vigo County Backpack Program. The program was started in 2011 by Mrs. Eisman, a media specialist at Terre Haute North when she realized that 55% of Vigo Co. students would be hungry over the holidays when school was not in session, so she created the backpack program so students could continue to have healthy food outside of school.

After deliberating, the membership voted to fund…

The Vigo County School Corporation’s Backpack Program!
